2007 Greater Syracuse Disability Mentoring Day

Please share the wonderful experiences from Greater Syracuse DMD 2007:

2007 Greater Syracuse DMD

Greater Syracuse Disability Mentoring Day was held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007. We had 72 mentees participate at various positions hosted by 36 local employers. For the first time, we combined our Kickoff Event, which was held at Drumlin’s Country Club, with the NDEAM (National Disability Employment Awareness Month) awards.

Our keynote address was given by Nienke P. Dosa, M.D. MPH, who is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Center for Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics, SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Mary Coogan, of ARISE, introduces Agnes McCray (seated) of the Arise Peer Mentoring Program. Ms McCray gave an enthusiastic Mentoring Testimonial.

Former Onondaga County Executive Nicholas J. Pirro addressed the gathering. Nick was given a token of appreciation by the Greater Syracuse DMD Committee for his years of dedication to DMD and to furthering employment opportunities for persons with disabilities in Onondaga County.

Thank you to our mentees, participating agencies, featured guests, mentoring employers and sponsors for making Greater Syracuse Disability Mentoring Day 2007 such a success!
